Senior Accounting Manager

Position Summary:

The Senior Accounting Manager is responsible for supervising all aspects of the company’s internal accounting system. This position also oversees all independent financial audits and manages the Accounting Department staff.

Report To: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Manage all aspects of the internal accounting system including A/P, and General Ledger (including Fixed Assets) in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Establish, monitor, and enforce financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Oversee all independent fiscal audits and provide information to external auditors (with CFO’s assistance)
  • Prepare budgets; establish schedules; and collect, analyze, and consolidate financial data.
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly/annual closings, departmental budgets, internal auditing of expenses and balance sheet accounts.
  • Prepare monthly expenditure reporting (MER’s) to all departments.
  • Maintain the chart of accounts and ensure consistent and appropriate usage.
  • Assist CFO on all tax returns – Federal, State, Local, Franchise and Property taxes.
  • Provide support to CFO on special projects/reports, including setting of bond rates, preparation of business plans, and financial forecasting.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Licensing Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting,
  • Skill and knowledge as would be acquired in 3-7 years of progressive responsibility in accounting department management.
  • Significant G/L accounting experience, including A/P, and period close activities.
  • Experience with budget preparation and reporting
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; accounting system software (GP Dynamics).
  • Heavy utilization of Excel, VLOOKUP’s, XLOOKUP’s, pivot tables and complex formulas

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: This position has supervisory responsibilities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

This is a sedentary role; however, this position requires constant communication and the ability to exchange accurate information, the ability to operate a computer and other office equipment, lift files, open filing cabinets and bend, or stand, as necessary.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: This is a full-time position. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., 35 hours per week. Work extended/evening hours when needed.

TRAVEL: Travel is not expected for this position.

SECURITY CLEARANCE: Must successfully pass background check, and fingerprinting (if applicable)
