Distribute Tab Cards
The tab cards must get into the hands of the members of the congregation. Review your congregation’s distribution method and initiate changes that will increase its convenience and efficiency. If you do not have a plan or want to upgrade, contact your local Israel Bonds office.

Collect Tab Cards
Your Israel Bonds representative will provide collection boxes. At the conclusion of the appeal, schedule a few minutes for members of the appeal committee and other volunteers to walk up and down the aisles of the sanctuary, holding collection boxes for members to insert their cards. Following, the collection boxes should be placed in conspicuous locations in the synagogue – and their locations announced – for residual card drop-off.

Choose Appeal Giver
The best appeal giver is a person who can speak passionately and personally about Israel; someone whose personal experiences with Israel and Israel Bonds will enable listeners to connect with their primary and most meaningful Israel experiences. Appeal givers seeking assistance in preparing their remarks should contact Rabbi Martin Pasternak at m.pasternak@israelbonds.com or 212.446.5883.

What Not to Say
Due to securities industry regulations, non-registered individuals and non-employees may not mention denominations, features, or terms of the bonds. Only Israel Bonds registered representatives may discuss rates, terms, and denominations, and can perform your customer analysis. Appeal givers are urged to focus on the need, purpose, value, and satisfaction of joining with other members of the synagogue to support Israel through investing in Israel bonds. Appeal givers should speak personally about what Israel bonds mean to them. If you have questions about what can be said/not said, contact your local Bonds office or Rabbi Pasternak.

Timing of the Appeal
As previously mentioned, your success is directly related to the number of seats occupied at the time of the appeal. We recommend the first day of Rosh Hashanah (before noon), Kol Nidre (before the rabbi speaks), or Yom Kippur (before Yizkor).

Before/After
Pre-appeal events and post appeal reminders to invest can boost the results of the appeal – as will bulletin articles, bimah announcements, and other reminders.  We also have a full complement of digital marketing items available for your online bulletin, website and weekly communications that will prepare congregation members to participate in the appeal and link readers directly to israelbonds.com. Contact your Israel Bonds representative to plan a pre-event or put together a program of pre-appeal communications that fit your congregation.
